Gunter's chain [′gən·tərz ¦chān]
(engineering)
A chain 66 feet (20.1168 meters) long, consisting of 100 steel links, each 7.92 inches (20.1168 centimeters) long, joined by rings, which is used as the unit of length for surveying public lands in the United States. Also known as chain.

Gunter’s chain
A measuring device in land surveying, consisting of 100 metal links, equivalent to 66 ft in length.
