Hänsch, Theodor W. (Wolfgang) (1941– ) physicist; born in Heidelberg, Germany. He came to the U.S.A. to teach and do research at Stanford University (1970). He advanced the field of optics with his studies of lasers and spectroscopy of atoms and molecules.
