(Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, 230 E. Ohio St., Chicago, IL, www.himss.org) A membership organization founded in 1961 as the Hospital Management Systems Society (HMSS). With more than 30,000 individual and 500 company members, its mission is the improvement of healthcare through information technology. In order to develop a better understanding of the region's healthcare IT issues, HIMSS has established an educational advisory committee -- with representatives from the Gulf region's health ministries and healthcare providers.
She is Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes Steering Committee, a liaison to the HIMSS Advocacy and Public Policy Steering Committee, and an exam question writer for the CPHIMS certification program.
The HIMSS is a United States-based not-for-profit organsaiiton and this study has been approved by the Instituional Review Board at Partners Health Care in Boston and is funded by HTMSS.
