Lake. a shallow salt lake in E central South Australia, about 8 m (25 ft.) below sea level. Area: 5776 sq. km (2230 sq. miles)

Torrens 

an enclosed lake in southern Australia. Lake Torrens, the second-largest lake in Australia after Lake Eyre North, is located in a tectonic basin west of the Flinders Ranges. The area of the lake varies significantly with the seasons; after the winter rains it covers as much as 5,700 sq km, while in summer it almost completely dries up and is encrusted with salt.
