Haberle, John (hăb`ərlē'), 1856–1933, American painter, b. New Haven, Conn. Noted for his photographically precise still-life paintings, Haberle is often compared in style with William Harnett Harnett, William Michael (här`nət), 1848–92, American painter, b. Ireland. ..... Click the link for more information. . He is remembered chiefly for his rigorously detailed paintings of paper scraps and money. Haberle's art is a celebration of the ordinary. Haberle, John (1853–1933) painter; born in New Haven, Conn. Based in New Haven, he prepared paleontological specimens for Yale University, began painting in 1887, and became known for his mysterious and humorous trompe l'oeil compositions such as A Bachelor's Drawer (1890s).
