Hadas, Moses

Hadas, Moses (1900–66) classicist, translator; born in Atlanta, Ga. He was educated at Emory (B.A. 1922) and Columbia (M.A. 1925, Ph.D. 1930) Universities; he taught at Columbia from 1925–28 and 1930–66. His best known publications include History of Greek Literature (1950) and History of Latin Literature (1952); his translations, such as Jacob Burckhardt's The Age of Constantine the Great (1949), and Three Greek Romances (1954), introduced works in German and Greek to English readers.
