Hagen (hä`gən), city (1994 pop. 214,880), North Rhine–Westphalia, W Germany, on the Ennepe River. It is an industrial center in the Ruhr district. Its manufactures include iron and steel, chemicals, machinery, paper, and textiles. Hagen was chartered in 1746 and became famous for its textiles in the late 18th cent. Its main industrial growth dates from 1870. Devastated during World War II, the city was rebuilt with parks, theaters, and museums.

Hagen 

a city in the German Federal Republic, in the Land (state) of Nordrhein-Westfalen. Situated on the Volme River near its confluence with the Ruhr River. Population, 231,800 (1975). Industry is represented by ferrous metallurgy, metalworking, and machine building, including the production of machine tools and electrical equipment. The city also produces textiles, furniture, and paper.

Byline: ANI London, May 7 (ANI): Controversial German anatomy artist Gunther von Hagens is once again facing flak for unveiling a work showing two corpses having sexual intercourse.
Von Hagens said his copulating couples show the sexual act in "bracing clarity".
The latest exhibition by German anatomist Gunther von Hagens opens in London on Friday, with preserved human and animal bodies displaying life's journey from birth to death in gruesome detail.
