Established: Authorized on November 18, 1988. Location: In south-central Idaho near the town of Hagerman, off US 30. Facilities: Information center, boardwalk, overlook. Activities: Hiking, fishing, bicycling, hunting, ranger-guided tours, interpretive programs. Special Features: Site protects the world's richest known fossil deposits from the late Pliocene epoch, 3-4 million years ago. These 220+ species of plants and animals represent the last glimpse of time that existed before the Ice Age, and the earliest appearances of modern flora and fauna.
