Hagerup, Inger

Born Apr. 12, 1905, in Bergen. Norwegian poet.

The influence of H. Ibsen and A. Øverland on Hagerup’s work is evident in, for example, the collection I Lost My Way in the Forest (1939). During the fascist German occupation of Norway, her patriotic verse circulated illegally. Her works include the collections of philosophic and lyric verse The Seventh Night (1947), My Ship Sails (1951), and From the Crater of the Heart (1964). Hagerup has also written plays for radio, children’s books, and two books of reminiscences, A Girl Approaches (1965) and What Shall You Be Called? (1966).
