Halobionts
organisms that inhabit highly saline lakes (for example, Lakes El’ton and Baskunchak in the USSR). They are never found in fresh water. The most typical halobionts are the green alga Dunaliella, the blue-green alga Chloroglea, the rotifer Brachionus mülleri, branchiopods of the genus Artemia, and the larvae of certain insects.
