Hamann, Donald R. (Robert) (1939– ) physicist; born in Valley Stream, N.Y. He began working at Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1965. His contributions to solid-state physics include studies of the electronic structure of semiconductor surfaces, and investigations of the structure, spectra, and length of chemical bonds.
