Hamilton, George Heard (1910– ) art historian; born in Pittsburgh, Pa. He studied at Yale (B.A. 1932; M.A. 1934; Ph.D. 1942), and Cambridge (M.A. 1971). He taught at Yale (1936–66), Williams College (beginning in 1963), and became the director of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, Mass. (1966–77).
