Hamlin, Talbot (Faulkner) (1889–1956) architect, architectural historian; born in New York City. He was a practicing architect (1914–34) and Columbia University professor of architectural theory (1916–54); his writings such as The American Spirit in Architecture (1926) awakened popular interest in American architecture.
