It has generally been acknowledged that the name of the supposed son of Zerubbabel in the Lukan list, Rhesa, is the Aramaic word for "head," and is a title for Zerubbabel, while the son of Rhesa is Joanan, the equivalent of Hananiah, the son of Zerubbabel in 1 Chronicles 3:19, 21 (Jeremias: 296; Bauckham 1990: 333).
True to his name, Hananiah promised God's favor for the nation.
