    0.03 sec.
Branner, Hans Christian

Born June 23, 1903, in Ordrup; died Apr. 24, 1966, in Copenhagen. Danish writer and translator.

Branner made his debut in 1932 with radio plays. In 1936 his antifascist novel The Toys was published. In his psychological novel The Rider (1949) and in a play with the same title (1952), Branner comes out against blind worship of the authority of a strong personality. The play Brothers and Sisters (1952) is concerned with the alienation of people in a capitalist society and their striving for unity. The realistic novel No One Knows the Night (1955) and the play Thermopylae (1958) are devoted to the Resistance Movement. Branner published several collections of stories.
