On the southwestern border of TN, south of Jackson; organized Oct 16, 1823 from Hardin County and Western District (Indian lands). Name Origin: For Col. Thomas Jones Hardeman (1788-1854), TN officer in the War of 1812, later a Texas patriot and legislator.

Area (sq mi): 670.39 (land 667.55; water 2.84). Pop per sq mi: 42.20.
Pop 2005: 28,170. State rank: 52. Pop change: 2000-20005 0.20%; 1990-2000 20.20%. Pop 2000: 28,105 (White 56.90%; Black or African American 41.00%; Hispanic or Latino 1.00%; Asian 0.30%; Other 1.40%). Foreign born: 0.70%. Median age: 36.00.

On the central northern border of TX, northwest of Wichita Falls; organized Feb 1, 1858 from Fannin County. Name Origin: For Lt. Bailey Hardeman (1795-1836), signer of the TX Declaration of Independence (1836) and secretary of the treasury of the TX Republic.

PINK SHEETS:EDEX) announced today that it will join its partners to drill a Passive Induced Polarization (PIP) identified location in Hardeman County, Texas, to test a Mississippian Dolomite Reef at 8700'.
The next two wells to be drilled by Eldorado should start in August with the Mesa Prospect in New Mexico being the first and the Hardeman County, Texas well by the end of August.
