Hart, Charles Henry (1847–1918) lawyer, art expert; born in Philadelphia. Educated privately when young, he graduated from the law school of the University of Pennsylvania (1869), and practiced in Philadelphia (1869–94). After a serious accident (1894), he became an authority on historical portraits—particularly the work of Gilbert Stuart—and was known for exposing fraudulent works of art.
