| In this approach, the administrator who suspects a compromised host can create new hash values and compare the new hash values to a set of "known good" values. If the document is tampered with, the hash value no longer corresponds to the original value, thereby invalidating the document and the virtual signature. This database is a collection of hash values (or "digital fingerprints") calculated for executable files to act as digital identifiers. |
