Hatcher, John Bell (1861–1904) paleontologist; born in Cooperstown, Ill. His leadership of numerous expeditions in the U.S.A. and Patagonia (1896–99) established him as a major American collector of fossils. He discovered the first fossil remains of Triceratops (1889).
