Haynes, Richard (1927– ) lawyer; born in Houston, Texas. Tough if short, shrewd if flamboyant—dubbed "Racehorse" by a coach—he excelled in jury selection and became a legendary criminal defense attorney in Houston. He wrote Blood and Money (1970), the true story of a plastic surgeon accused of murdering his wife. His celebrated trials include that of oil tools heir T. Cullen Davis (1979).
