Hebbar, Kattinjeri Krishna
Born June 15, 1912, in Udipi. Indian painter and graphic artist. Hebbar earned a degree in art at the J. J. School in Bombay in 1938 and studied at the Académie Julien in Paris in 1949. In 1953 he visited the USSR. He has worked mainly in Bombay. Heb-bar’s works combine national traditions, including those of southern Indian folk art, with elements derived from Gauguin and Cezanne. His best works, mainly scenes of rural life, are remarkable for their expressive rendering of dance rhythms and work movements, for example, the tempera picture Around and Around. REFERENCEHebbar. Edited by V. R. Amberkar. Delhi, 1960.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
