Location: At the end of Heckscher State Parkway, in the East Islip/Great River Area in Suffolk County.
Facilities: 69 campsites (vehicles must be under 11 feet high to enter campground), showers, picnic areas, picnic pavilions, playground, playing fields, food concession, multi-use trails (20 miles), nature trail, beach, swimming pool, boat launch ramp (é).
Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, bay and pool swimming, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, recreation and nature programs.
Special Features: Located on Great South Bay, park attacts more than a million visitors a year. Its campgrounds were ranked among the top 100 in the US in 2005.
