Heinrich Von Lettland 

Born 1187; died 1259. Author of the Livonian Chronicle, written 1224-27 in Latin.

Heinrich was a Germanized Catholic priest who arrived in Riga in 1205. From 1208 on, he was the priest in a Latvian parish in Pappendorf. Heinrich von Lettland participated in the Livonian campaigns of the German crusaders. He glorified the aggressive policy of the knights. In the chronicle the aggression of the German feudal lords in Livonia and Estonia from the late 12th century to 1227 is described in detail.
