Hektorović, Petar
Born in 1487 on the island of Hvar; died Mar. 13, 1572, in Starigrad. Croatian poet. Born into an aristocratic family. Hectorović participated in a people’s rebellion on the island of Hvar during 1510-14. During the invasion of the Turks in 1539, he fled to Italy. He was a poet-humanist and a representative of Renaissance Dubrovnik literature. He wrote sonnets, epistles, and religious dramas in Croatian, Italian, and Latin. He was the author of the poetic idyll Fishing and Fishermen’s Tales, published in 1568. WORKSPjesme Petra Hektorovića i Hanibala Lucića. Zagreb, 1874.
