(physical chemistry)
An equation for the pH of an acid during its neutralization: pH =pKa+ log [salt]/[acid], wherepKais the logarithm to base 10 of the reciprocal of the dissociation constant of the acid; the equation is found to be useful for the pH range 4-10, providing the solutions are not too dilute.
