Henry, Andrew (c. 1775–1833) trapper, lead miner; born in York County, Pa. He moved to present-day Missouri (1800) where he engaged in lead mining. He joined the St. Louis Missouri Fur Company (1809) and led the first party of American fur trappers west of the Rocky Mountains (1810–11). He became a hero among trappers for this event and for his exploits with William Ashley's trapping expedition in the west (1822–24). How to thank TFD for its existence?
