Hepatocerebral Syndrome
lesions of the nervous system resulting from liver diseases of various origins. Progressive liver diseases are associated with asthenic and neurotic disorders that result from intoxication; these include irascibility, increased fatigability, and insomnia, as well as a variety of autonomic and vascular disturbances. Organic brain lesions (mainly of the subcortical ganglia) are possible, and polyneuritis and polyradiculitis sometimes develop. The hepatocerebral syndrome is cured by treatment of the liver disease responsible for it. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
