A gland in crustaceans and certain other invertebrates that combines the digestive functions of the liver and pancreas of vertebrates.

The hepatopancreas (HP) was separated from the rest of the flesh and the weight of both parts was recorded for calculation of % HP.
The quality control at Brooks Rand included method blanks, certified dogfish muscle tissue (DORM-2; National Research Council, Canada), dogfish liver tissue (DOLT-3; National Research Council, Canada), and certified lobster hepatopancreas (TORT-1; National Research Council, Canada), spiked reference material, and matrix spikes at concentrations > 10 times the native sample concentration.
Two different Certified Reference Materials, dog fish liver (DOLT-1) and lobster hepatopancreas (TORT-2) were digested using the same procedure for quality control.
