Herbert, (Donald Jeffry) Don (“Mr. Wizard”) (1917–  ) television science educator, producer; born in Waconia, Minn. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He combined his interests in science and drama when he went into radio work in Chicago. He created and starred in Watch Mr. Wizard (1951–65, 1971–72), an informal educational television program that popularized scientific principles by demonstrating simple experiments. He also produced the adult science series How About (1979–86).
