Hereford and Worcester

Hereford and Worcester (hĕr`əfərd, ws`tər), former county, W central England, created under the Local Government Act of 1972 (effective 1974). It was composed of the county borough of Worcester and most of the former counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, but in 1998 the two counties were again established as separate entities.

Hereford and Worcester 

a county in Great Britain, formed in 1973–75 from the two former counties of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Population, 585,900 (1974). The county is primarily agricultural, although the northeastern area adjacent to the West Midlands conurbation is heavily industrialized, with enterprises of the machine-building, metalworking, and ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy industries.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the minibus belonged to The Variety Club, a charity which helps disabled and disadvantaged children.
The cost-cutting initiative, designed to save pounds 2million, would have meant several fire stations across Warwickshire shutting and resources being pooled with the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority.
The new HQ, housed at the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service headquarters, will monitor weather forecasts closely to anticipate where flash floods might occur.
