Herschel-type venturi tube [′hər·shəl ‚tīp ven′tu̇r·ē ‚tüb] (engineering) A type of venturi tube in which the converging and diverging sections are cones, the throat section is relatively short, the diverging cone is long, and the pressures preceding the inlet cone and in the throat are transferred through multiple openings into annular openings, called piezometer rings.
