Hibbard, Howard (1928–84) art historian; born in Madison, Wis. He studied at the University of Wisconsin (B.A. 1949; M.A. 1952), and at Harvard (Ph.D. 1958). He taught art history primarily at Columbia University beginning in 1966, and worked as editor-in-chief of The Art Bulletin (1961–78). He specialized in Renaissance and Baroque Italian art and architecture.
