Aston Martin was founded in 1914 by motoring pioneers Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, who joined forces to sell Singer cars for hill-climbing and racing, testing them at Aston Hill, Herts.
Byline: By Andrew Flynn Hill-climbing specialist Jim Henderson showed the form that could carry him to his sixth national title in eight years when he powered his way to a record-breaking win at Batley.
