Hirschsprung's disease [′hərsh‚pru̇ŋz di‚zēz]
(medicine)
A disease caused by absence of the myenteric ganglion cells in a segment of rectum or distal colon, resulting in spasm of the affected part and dilation of the bowel proximal to the defect.
