We report the first indigenous case of disseminated histoplasmosis in Taiwan diagnosed by histopathology of bone marrow, microbiologic morphology, and PCR assay of the isolated fungus. With prolonged suppression of immune function, we began to see new additional "opportunistic" infections including Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Mycobacterium avium intracellulare (MAI), Candida Esophagitis, Histoplasmosis, Toxoplasmosis, and Cryptosporidiosis. histoplasmosis and blastomycosis), congenital or acquired syphilis, nocardiosis, chronic bacterial otitis, and necrotizing external otitis. |
