Hobbs, William

Hobbs, William (Herbert) (1864–1953) geologist, geographer; born in Worcester, Mass. He was responsible for founding the department of geography at the University of Michigan in 1923. He contributed widely to the disciplines of geology and geography and was a specialist in glaciology and mineralogy. He wrote 15 books and more than 400 articles.
