The termite fauna of Pakistan consists of four families (Kalotermitidae,
Hodotermitidae, Rhinotermitidae and Termitidae), 16 genera and 53 species (Ahmad and Akhtar, 1994).
Termites that belong to the families
Hodotermitidae (Anacanthotermes and Hodotermes), Kalotermitidae (Neotermes), Rhinotermitidae (Coptotermes, Heterotermes, and Psammotermes), and Termitidae (Amitermes, Ancistrotermes, Cornitermes, Macrotermes, Microcerotermes, Microtermes, Odontotermes, Procornitermes, and Syntermes) [12].
It is a member of the hyena family, but unlike its larger relatives, it preys on termites of the family
Hodotermitidae and other insects, and can eat over 200,000 in a night s foraging using its long, sticky tongue to capture them.
Existem sete familias representantes da ordem dos cupins: Mastotermitidae, Kalotermitidae, Termopsidae,
Hodotermitidae, Serritermitidae, Rhinotermitidae e Termitidae (GRASSE, 1986).
