Holzer's method [′hōt·sərz ‚meth·əd] (mechanics) A method of determining the shapes and frequencies of the torsional modes of vibration of a system, in which one imagines the system to consist of a number of flywheels on a massless flexible shaft and, starting with a trial frequency and motion for one flywheel, determines the torques and motions of successive flywheels.
