Homar, Lorenzo (1913– ) artist; born in Puerta de Tierra, Puerto Rico. He grew up in New York City, where he attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School and studied metalwork at Cartier's. In 1950 he returned to Puerto Rico where he was active in the graphic arts, was a founder of the Puerto Rican Arts Center, and received a Guggenheim in 1957. His lithographs, posters, and paintings hang in New York's Museum of Modern Art and at the Library of Congress. He was one of the first in Puerto Rico to see the potential for the poster as an affordable art form. How to thank TFD for its existence?
