Homoki Nagy, István
Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Mezőtúr. Hungarian motion-picture director and cameraman. Honored Artist of the Hungarian People’s Republic (1955). Doctor of law. Homoki Nagy graduated from law school in Szeged in 1938. He worked as a photographer, specializing in ornithology and other fields of science. Since 1949 he has worked in popular-science films as a screenwriter, director, and cameraman; he mainly directs nature films. Homoki Nagy is known best for the films In the World of Turbulent Waters (1951), In the Mysterious World of Animals and Birds (1952), In the Forest of the Kestrels (1953), A Lake in the Forest (1966), and The Adventures of a Cat (1968). He has also made feature films, such as Pals (1958) and Through the Mountains and the Valleys (1960). Homoki Nagy was awarded the Kossuth Prize in 1952. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
