Hooten, Earnest (Albert) (1887–1954) physical anthropologist; born in Clemansville, Wis. He was a professor at Harvard, where his laboratory became a center for training physical anthropology specialists. His many popular books introduced human anatomical evolution to a non-academic readership. His occasionally controversial research concentrated on classifying human races and relating physical characteristics to behavior. |
