Hora

a Moldavian folk round dance; in the early 19th century, also the name of a country festival. The hora is danced in 2/4 or 6/8 time, to a slow tempo. It is performed smoothly and softly by girls; at wedding celebrations men also take part. The hora is accompanied by the cimpoi (a type of bagpipe), fluer (a flute), and other folk instruments.
