Lurton, Horace Harmon (1844–1914) Supreme Court justice; born in Newport, Ky. He taught law at Vanderbilt University (1898–1910) and spent many years as a judge, including seventeen years in the U.S. court of appeals, sixth circuit. President Taft named him to the U.S. Supreme Court (1910–14). |
