In west-central WY; created Feb 9, 1911 from Fremont, Johnson, and Big Horn counties. Name Origin: For the hot springs located in the county seat.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1999--Howell Corporation (NYSE:HWL) (Nasdaq:HWLLP) completed the previously announced sale of the Grass Creek Unit in Hot Springs County, Wyoming, and the Pitchfork Unit in Park County, Wyoming, to Marathon Oil Company for a $12,375,000 purchase price.
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 1999--Howell Corporation (NYSE:HWL)(Nasdaq:HWLLP) announced today that it has entered into a definitive Agreement for the sale of its interests in the Grass Creek Unit, in Hot Springs County, Wyoming, and the Pitchfork Unit in Park County, Wyoming for $12,375,000, subject to adjustments at closing.
