Hot-Bitumen Carrier
specialized motor vehicle. Semitrailer or trailer truck with a tank for transporting liquid bituminous materials which have a temperature ranging up to 200° C. Hot-bitumen carriers are equipped with heating apparatus or with heaters which operate on diesel fuel or kerosene, as well as indicators which measure the level of material poured in, thermometers, and metal hoses for use in pouring out the bituminous material. In setting up the spreading unit, hot-bitumen carriers may be used as automotive spreaders of the bitumen in the construction of roads, airports, and the like. The capacity of a modern hot-bitumen carrier ranges from 3 to 15 cu m in the USSR and is as much as 25 cu m abroad. REFERENCESelivanov, 1.1., and M. I. Serebrianyi.
