Hryniewiecki, Jerzy

Born Apr. 21, 1908, in what is now Tartu, Estonian SSR. Polish architect.

Beginning in 1926, Hryniewiecki studied at the Warsaw Polytechnical Institute. His projects, which represent a return to Polish functionalism. are distinguished by rationality and simplicity of form and by versatility of design. These qualities are evident in such structures as the Tenth Anniversary Stadium (1954–55, Warsaw, with other architects) and the store Supersam (1962, Warsaw, with M. Krasiński).
