Hubbard, Bernard Rosecrans (1888–1962) Jesuit priest, explorer, photographer; born in San Francisco. Called the "Glacier Priest," between 1927 and the mid-1950s he made countless expeditions to Alaska. He led the first winter ascent of Mount Karmai (1932) and lived with Eskimos on King Island (1937–38). His lectures, writings, and photography introduced the little-known territory of Alaska to Americans. How to thank TFD for its existence?
