a city in W India, in NW Mysore: incorporated with Dharwar in 1961; educational and trading centre. Pop. (with Dharwar): 786 018 (2001)

Hubli

a city in India, in Mysore State; administratively linked with the city of Dharwar. Population, 379,700 (1971). Hubli is a transportation junction and an industrial and commercial center. The city manufactures machinery, cotton fabrics, leather products, and soap. Hubli has a railroad workshop.
