Hübnerová, Marie
Born Oct. 12, 1862, in Žamberk; died Aug. 5, 1931, in Prague. Czech actress. From 1880 to 1895, Hübnerová performed in provincial companies; in 1896 she became an actress at the National Theater in Prague. A distinguished representative of the realistic tradition in Czech theatrical art, Hübnerová created a number of important characters in the national drama. She performed in Russian classical plays (Gogol’s Inspector-General, Ostrovskii’s The Dowerless Girl, and others). Among Hübnerová’s best works was the satirical character of Pani Dulska (The Morals of Pani Dulska by Zapolska). Want to thank TFD for its existence?
