Huila

a department in Colombia. Population, 524,500 (1973). Huila occupies an area of 20,000 sq km. Its capital is the city of Neiva. Tropical crops are raised, including coffee, rice, and cotton, and there is grazing of livestock. There are enterprises of the textile and food-processing industries in Neiva.
